Broken Pieces
The hardest part of depression isn’t just feeling sad—it’s the feeling of becoming a stranger to yourself. Looking at old photos of “happier times” and feeling completely disconnected from that person. “I can’t remember who I was.”
Lyrics
Just faded photograph, a dusty frame and broken glass
I don’t remember the time or place, it’s only an out of focus face
A smiling face they would say, a smile they told me was mine
I don’t see myself at all, I can’t remember the place or time
They’re just pieces on the floor
Broken memories, nothing more
I can’t remember who I was
It’s all just pieces on the floor
Just a broken music box, a ballerina used to dance on top
As I slowly turn the key, it plays an out of tune melody
A beautiful song they would say, music they told me was sublime
I don’t recall how it goes, I can’t remember the place or time
They’re just pieces on the floor
Broken memories, nothing more
I can’t remember who I was
It’s all just pieces on the floor
Just broken pieces on the floor
